About the Neurological Alliance
The Neurological Alliance is a wide range of neurological charities and stakeholders, which have come together to make life better for people in the Tees Valley, Durham and North Yorkshire areas with a neurological condition. There is a vital relationship between the Health, Social Care, Private and Voluntary sectors which must be strengthened by sharing skills and information. The Alliance regards valuing diversity and equality of opportunity as an integral part of their commitment to facilitate, develop and improve service delivery for those with a neurological condition.
Our aims are to:
- Raise awareness of neurological conditions and their impact
- Inform and influence policy makers about the needs of people
with neurological conditions
- Secure the highest standards of service and improved care for people with neurological conditions
- Promote research and the dissemination of information about neurological conditions
We are concerned about:
- The low priority given to addressing the needs of people with neurological conditions
- The need for nationally accepted standards of care
- Fragmentation and lack of co-ordination between services
- Low awareness amongst health and social care and other professionals about the impact of neurological conditions
- Ensuring that those affected are involved in the management of their condition
